The European project REACH 112 enters its final phase: piloting. In France, with the full participation of IVèS as technical provider pilot phase has started may 2011. The first video and text calls to "112" were handled by Grenoble Hostpital emergency responders every tuesday afternoon. Starting from mi-july the platform will be open every tuesday from 2 PM to 5 PM and every Thurstay from 5 PM to 8 PM.

In fall, the "114" platform that handles emergency fax and SMS for all France will be open and in parallel the French pilot will be open 24/7. The pilot phase will end in mai 2012. The use of sign language and text calls to reach emergency servers will be then proven to be possible. You may find  more information [fr] on the projet in our partner's web site.
